About the forge
Hook Norton Farriers is based in the Cotswolds and run by approved training farrier Andy Martin
Andy Martin and his team have been providing equine hoof care to customers' horses throughout Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas for over 25 years.
This is very much a family run business offering a professional, friendly, reliable service and free no obligation advice in respect of any shoeing.
Care and attention is given to each individual horse's specific needs. Every horse is different so we shoe each one based on individual requirements. We will work alongside your vet or farrier for those horses requiring remedial shoeing to help achieve the best outcome for your horse.

Andy and his team are always up to date with the latest shoeing techniques by attending lectures and following any new developments that occur.
Remedial shoeing
Remedial work and lameness issues assessed at our forge, with handmade shoes fitted to each horse.
On-site facilities
A forge and clinic, an all weather arena for trot up assessments, and stables with 24 hour supervision.
Copper coated nails
Copper nails used on horses with brittle, cracked feet or bacterial hoof problems, where they suit the hoof.
We also offer farrier cover at horse events and racecourses, glue on plastic shoes, and consultation work undertaken by Andy Martin AWCF.

- Over 25 years of experience successfully treating and addressing lameness issues, from imbalances in the hoof to intricate remedial hoof treatment.
- Associate of the Worshipful Company of Farriers. Andy gained his AWCF in 1999 and is an approved training farrier who has successfully trained 14 apprentices.
- Two mobile units travelling out to customers, plus an on-site forge and clinic for clients who prefer to travel to us.
- Riders as well as farriers. All our team of farriers have ridden and handle all types of horses every day.

Our forge is at Yew Tree Barn on the Hook Norton Road at Swerford, just outside Chipping Norton. From there our two mobile units cover Chipping Norton, Hook Norton, Swerford and the wider Cotswolds, travelling throughout Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. Clients are also welcome to travel horses to our on-site forge for any type of shoeing.
